We loved Bruce Willis and Jason Statham earlier this year in The Expendables. They continue the action in A Good Day to Die Hard (AKA: Die Hard 5) and Parker respectively.

It’s been 24 years since Bruce Willis took the role of John McClane in the first Die Hard. Back then McClane was an ordinary cop who rose the occasion when terrorists took over the building his wife (Bonnie Bedelia) worked in. Alan Rickman played the thinking man’s villain and the two engaged in a thrilling cat and mouse game of who could outsmart the other. By today’s standards explosions were pretty much kept to a minimum.

24 years and 3 sequels (of increasing extravagance) later, we can’t help but think that’s changed a bit. McClane is more of a Rambo type super-hero (kind of like Rambo himself turned into a super-hero), and clearly from this trailer explosions abound. Nonetheless, I can’t help but look forward to more John McClane.

A Good Day to Die Hard is scheduled to be released February 14, 2013. What could be a  better Valentine’s date movie than that?

Parker is based a popular series of novels by author Donald E. Westlake (who published the novels under the pen name Richard Stark).  Paker (Statham) is a professional thief with a code of ethics that he lives by. In this film he is double-crossed by his team and is forced to assume a new identity in order to get his revenge.

Jennifer Lopez, Michael Chiklis, and Nick Nolte co-star. We haven’t seen a lot of Statham’s films, but we think he was pretty cool in The Expendables. We loved Chiklis in The Shield and thought he was the best thing about The Fantastic Four movies. Parker is directed by Taylor Hackford.

Parker is scheduled to open January 25, 2013.
